Who we are
The Africa Child Online Safety Alliance connects organisations working on child online safety across the continent. It facilitates knowledge and resource sharing, strengthens capacity, supports policy advocacy and promotes collaboration.
The Alliance also works to strengthen Africa's voice in global discussions on children's rights, technology and online safety.
Our story
ACOSA grew out of the first Africa Child Online Protection Summit and has convened the conversation since.
At the 1st Africa Child Online Protection Summit, convened by Watoto Watch Network, participants established ACOSA as a pan-African platform.
Under the theme Empowering Africa's Digital Generation, the Nairobi summit moved from dialogue towards practical recommendations.
In partnership with Polaris Asso, the Dakar summit takes on AI, children and age-appropriate digital participation.
To unite organisations, governments and communities across Africa to safeguard children in the digital age by promoting digital literacy, advocating for protective policies, fostering collaboration and developing innovative solutions to address online risks and opportunities.
To create an Africa where every child can explore and thrive in the digital world safely, confidently and without fear of harm, fostering a generation empowered by technology and shielded from its risks.
